Why I’m devoting 30 days to getting my happy back

I’ve decided to devote the next 30 days to ME and getting my happy back.

You see, I can feel a fire burning within me, and to me, this means change is on the horizon.

The whisper is growing louder every day.

She (my intuition) is awakening. She can no longer stay silent while I choose to play small.

She is calling me out and demanding that I step into MY truth in a bigger, bolder, braver way.

I can’t help but think that this is all too familiar… that I’ve been here before…

Last time, I quit my soul sucking job, sold most of my belongings and traveled across the world to Bali on my own.

But I am not the same woman who walked away from her life in search of finding herself. I know who I am. I know what I want. I know the change I want to make in the world.

So how am I here… again?

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.” Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

To answer the question, “how am I here… again?”

I haven’t been maintaining MY happiness.

I’ve been giving the shoulds of society priority over my true soul desires and have allowed myself to become complacent.

And once an ounce of unhappiness sets in I revert to old self-sabotaging habits – binge watching Netflix, numbing with booze, and sleeping way too much.

But the whisper within is calling me out.

I know I cannot chase my BIG dreams and live small. The two cannot co-exist.

There is only room for one in my life and from this day forward I AM CHOOSING my big dreams over the safety of my comfort zone, over the shoulds and supposed to’s.

I am choosing happiness.

I am choosing MY soul desires.

I am choosing ME.

I am choosing to push the reset button and devoting 30 days to ME, starting April 1st.

There are no guidelines for this journey, but if you’re looking for some inspiration on what to do (or not do) during the 30 days here are some ideas:

#1. Set a few clear intentions for the month by tapping into how you want to feel.

You can do this by placing one hand on your heart and one on your belly. Take a few deep breaths and ask yourself, “how do I want to feel? What do I need? What can I do to find more happiness over the next 3o days?”

You can also ask yourself these same questions while you journal. Journaling is such a powerful way to connect to the infinite wisdom within.

For me, over the next 30 days, I want to feel balanced, fully alive, and in flow with the Universe.

#2: Once you identify how you want to feel and what you need, use these feeling and desires to guide you.

What makes you feel the way you want to feel? How can you cultivate these feelings or desires over the next 30 days. Again, tap into your inner wisdom through journaling and connecting to the wisdom within. When the answers arise, listen to them, honor them, and add more of it into your life over the next 30 days.

#3: Use the rule of 3

The rule of three is a simple concept – add three things into your life and remove three.

For example, you could add: a vegan diet, more reading, and yoga 3x a week.

And you could remove: alcohol, binge watching Netflix, and social media.

Here are some other ideas:

Dial in and commit to a morning routine, begin a journaling practice, start meditating, do a 3 week cleanse, create art everyday, practice gratitude or devote 30 days to finding your purpose.

The ideas are endless here. Just remember to let your intuition guide you and do what feels good to YOU!
